Radon Detectors This detector has been especially designed to meet the highest professional standards and has a proven track record. It is validated by the HPA and identified by unique. The detector is a track-etch open device using Kodak LR115 film, recognised internationally, and giving extremely accurate results. It has a hinged holder mechanism enabling it to be open or closed. There are many features that we think are unique to the Volalpha radon detector. It is compact in size measuring only 40mm x 53 mm x 2.5mm thick; this is much smaller and more discreet than most other detectors available. Because of this small size, when placed out in schools or offices for Health and Safety at Work Act compliance, the rate of loss is minimal; nearly always the detector will be collected at the end of three months to be analysed. The detectors are packed in convenient boxes of ten, which enables a surveyor to carry many detectors on a placement. Again, because of the small size, they can be easily concealed and affixed to objects with the self-adhesive pad on the reverse of the holder. When mailing detectors, expensive post and radon-proof packaging materials are not required, ensuring a quick and efficient reporting period. The opening and closing feature enables this detector to be used for personal dosimetry, essential if personnel are in radon risk designated areas. Because of the sensitivity of the film, and the sophisticated software used in the laboratory, exposure times as short as twenty minutes have shown accurate results. The detector is economical and competitively priced and, because it does not work until opened, has a long shelf life. It is non-hazardous both in use and disposal. |
